Ruya Saki received an invitation to attend Teiou Gakuen, the famous school for magic users inside the mysterious town of Setsuyamachi. Not knowing the reason why she was invited, Ruya took her first step into this unfamiliar place. The first thing she met as soon as she entered was the welcome from two bad guys who fired Light magic at her. A mysterious guy saved her afterwards and led her to her destination.

Being a new student in Teiou Gakuen, Ruya met many new friends and rivals. Toshino Eiji, the president of the Light department which she joined, was a cheerful and generous leader. Oppositely, the president of the other department, whom Ruya recognized as the guy she met on her first day, was cold and irritating.

How will Ruya cope with the big difference and tension between the two departments? Soon, she will discover about the reasons behind the attitudes and feelings of the different people around her...

	SAKI RUYA Ruya is a typical 15-year old girl who has never known her parents since she knows of her existance. She was invited to Teiou Gakuen and chose to join the Light department. Ruya does not excel in magic much, but her cheerfulness enables her to befriend with many people in her department. The only people she seems to have difficulty communicating with are the students from the Darkness department, especially the president, whom, as time passes, Ruya feels strangely towards.
	EIJI TOSHINO Toshino is the president of the Light department, the one whom Ruya depends most on as she is new to the surroundings. Toshino met Ruya when she was looking around at the main gate and brought her to see the headmaster. He seems to treat Ruya with exceptional generosity and kindness. Toshino is the strongest magic user in the Light department, however, his abilities are no match for the Darkness president, thus regarding him as his greatest rival in life.

	HIWATARI KI Ki is the guy who saved Ruya on her first day in Setsuyamachi. However, he seems to have the bad habit of forgetting people's names and faces easily, as he did not recognize Ruya when they met again in school. Ki's personality is cold, firm and prefers to ba alone, but don't know why, he is the most popular guy in the school. Having great potential in his Darkness abilities, Ki does not fear anyone who challenges him. However, the source of this power comes from a past that even he himself does not know...

	HIGURASHI SEISHIROU Seishirou is the headmaster of Teiou Gakuen, the man rumoured to be the strongest in the school, and the strongest Light magic user in town. He likes to keep on a smiling face while emitting a mysterious aura around him. No one has ever seen him open his eyes, and no one in the academy has ever seen him uses his magic.

	HOTORI The only officer inside Teiou Gakuen. He is responsible of helping the headmaster with documents or bringing new students to the office. No one knows his real name.

	ASUMA HIROTO The homeroom reacher for level 1 students, but he also teaches some upper classes. He is basically the only teacher appearing in the series since all the others "stay mysterious". Hiroto has a childish attitude sometimes, but he can be strict.

	HARUYAMA ARITAKA Aritaka is the second-hand man under Ki, the second strongest student in the Darkness Department. He was born in a good family outside Setsuyamachi, but due to certain circumtances he and his parents moved away from the city. He met Ki on his way home after school one day, and respected his magical strength. Later, Aritaka was invited to Teiou Gakuen, where he offered to serve under the person who had once saved him.

	IWASE KEIJI Toshino and Aritaka's childhood friend, who, due to uncontrollable reasons, was forced to end his friendship with Aritaka. Toshino and Keiji were invited to Teiou Gakuen at the same time, and they chose the same department so that they could be with each other. Unlike his friend, Keiji likes to show his calm and collected self. He has a smart mind and helps Toshino in every way he can.

	KAWAI ANKO The only daughter of a rich family in the city. She came to Setsuyamachi in hopes of seeing the one she had been admiring for years back in elementary school. She changed herself from a quiet girl to a cute and lively lady in order to catch his attention. However, although she works hard and become the strongest girl in the department, her president does not treat her specially.

	TOSHIMA SAYUKI One of Ruya's best friend from the Light department. Sayuki is a normal teenage girl of 15, who likes Toshino but always put her friends in the first place. She treasures her friendship with Ruya and tries to help her as much as she can.

	HISAE MAYU Another of Ruya's friends from the Light Department who also likes Toshino. She is always seen around with Sayuki and together they formed the Eiji Toshino Club. Mayu is a very outgoing girl but she has an unknown hatred towards the Darkness department.

	HIWATARI REN He is Ki's real grandfather who took him under his care from the orphanage. However, he had never mentioned to Ki about his past or anything about his parents.

	OOSAKI KANAME Ki's best friend in elementary. He cares about himself only and will befriend anyone if they could help him in getting what he wants.

	UGAMI YUUICHI The academic excellent student in Ki's class when he was in elementary. He is the person whom Ki could never beat!!

	FUTSUKI A messenger from Teiou Gakuen. His job is to receive new students and bring them to the academy. He is kind of... firm in his ideas...

	MATSUMOTO RIKA Ki's teacher in elementary. She is kind and loving towards her students. .
